She sighed deeply. He was so annoying! "Hi, Austin."
"Why are you being so formal? You can call me by my nickname."
"And what would that be?"
He grinned mischievously,"For you, Babe."
"Yeah I'm not calling you that..." she said with a look of annoyance.
"What? Why!"
"Because you are NOT my 'babe'." she growled as she pushed past him.
"Well, maybe I should call YOU feisty!" he replied nonchalantly with a good-humored smile.
She rolled her eyes and went to class with her friends. "Gosh, he is so annoying!"
"Yeah really." Justin agreed.
Caroline merely grinned.
Zeke was in homeroom when Kathryn walked up,"Hi!" She smiled. He just stared at her unsure of whether she was REALLY talking to him or not. "Um, Hello? Zeke?"
"M-Me?"
She laughed slightly,"Yeah, you!"
He stopped staring at her like some creepy weirdo and smiled nervously,"Um, hi."
"I was just wondering if you were going to that big Halloween party the school is throwing on Friday."
"Oh, I, um, well, I guess I never really thought about it."
"Well, I was wanting to know if you would like to go with me, because I didn't really want to go by myself, so yeah." She smiled anxiously.
"Yes! Ahem, I mean, yes."
"Cool! Pick me up at this address?" She handed him a note with an address and her cell number and left him there staring happily at it.
"M-Me?"
She laughed slightly,"Yeah, you!"

"So do you have plans for the Halloween dance?"
Jess looked up at Justin,"Um, no. I wasn't really planning on going... Why?"
"Oh. I was just.... Never mind." He smiled.
"OK?" Jess said very clueless.
He decided to drop the matter,"So have you started packing?"
"Oh, yeah. A little." They walked to class talking the whole way. Justin wished he had the guts to ask her to the school dance. It wouldn't be a big deal if they went as friends, right? Surely there was no pressure in that... But still, he was scared she'd turn him down like Austin. He didn't want her to think he was like him! So he decided not to bother her about it.
